Rastislav Ballek: Tiso (monodrama)
| Dr. Jozef Tiso was without a doubt the most tragic figure of Slovak history. A Christian and a Catholic priest who devoted his life to faith, ideals, service to the nation and later to Slovak statehood. In the name of these ideals he joined the Fascists, allowed 72,000 Jews to be robbed of their property, stripped off their citizen and human rights and be deported from Slovakia. Most of them were massacred in concentration camps. When tried for his crimes after the war by a People´s Court, he did not plead guilty and did not show any sign of remorse. He was sentenced to death. |
