The God of carnage

Yasmina Reza: The God of carnage

One of the most successful play writers of today whose plays are more popular than some of the traditional dramatic pieces by Shakespeare and Molière… After the success of Reza´s play Art Arena Theatre presents her new play which has been impatiently awaited by translators in more than thirty countries… Reza´s phenomenal success goes on – in December 2006 God of Carnage was premiered in Swiss Zurich and was immediately labeled by the critics the best performance of the year. Zurich was soon followed by prestigious German drama theatre, Vienna Burgtheater…. and Arena Theatre.

“Yasmina Reza can be cruel and very funny at the same time… it drills deep into the roots of a bourgeois grotesque like drilling a tooth. It attacks the proud self-confidence of a modern European while attacking his or her funny-bone…”
