The Goat, or Who is Silvia?

Edward Albee: The Goat, or Who is Silvia?

The main character of this play seems to be an impersonation of success. A famous and rich New York architect who has just received a prestigious prize, a lucrative contract and turned fifty must reveal to his faithful and loving life and his 17 year old homosexual son that he is in the middle of a love affair. His wife cries, his son is agonized as his father has fallen in love with a goat named Sylvia. When even psychotherapy does not help, the family decides to take the situation in their hands…

The Goat, or Who is Silvia? is not a play about sodomy but about subjects which fall outside civilization stereotypes which we all got used to.
