William Shakespeare: Othello
| Famous tragic love story of Desdemona and Othello, whose blind trust to vindictive Jago leads him to a murder of his love and thus himself. Director Jiří Pokorný brings inventive visual concept and presents the themes of the play in new light. The production highlights racial difference of Othello and also reveals new motivations of characters and their relations. Is it really just Jago’s diabolical plan, leading everybody to perdition? Or is the mere Shakespeare's play a devil pact to each person in Cyprus, that special island, where everybody loses ground beneath their feet, common sense and the impossible becomes possible? |
